Carol Baker
After a lifelong career in travel – mostly in the airline world – it’s safe to say I’m completely hooked. The buzz of an airport, the smell of jet fuel, and that little kick as the plane takes off? Still love it.
Originally from the UK, I now happily call Australia home. These days, I get my travel fix as a Host with Solo Connections, leading groups of like-minded travellers on adventures near and far.
I’ve roamed through Europe, soaked up the chaos and colour of Asia, explored the Americas, and wandered the magic of the Middle East. But if I had to pick a favourite? Borneo – hands down. It’s the kind of place that makes you stop and go, “Well… wow.”
On tour, I’m all about creating experiences that are fun, relaxed, and full of those little moments you’ll be talking about long after you get home. Think laughter, a bit of mischief, and maybe the occasional cheeky glass of wine.
When I’m not travelling, you’ll find me camping, enjoying good food and red wine (strictly for quality control purposes, of course), or singing baritone with the fabulous Redland Rhapsody Chorus. There’s nothing quite like belting out a tune with a group of amazing women. It’s barbershop, it’s loud, it’s joyful, and it’s a lot like travelling in that it brings people together.
So if you’re up for a great adventure, a few laughs, and making some wonderful connections along the way… you’ll fit right in!
